We are in search of a professional and passionate International Travel Consultant with proven experience in the travel industry to join our team in Lagos, Nigeria.

 

   Job Description

As an International Travel Consultant for America, you will be responsible for counselling and advising international travellers on travel options, packages and decisions. In this role, you will be required to make bookings, reservations, prepare tickets and receive payments. You will be focusing on countries in the continents of America and Oceania e.g. U.S, Canada, Australia e.t.c.

 

   Duties and Responsibilities

* Determine customer travel plans and budget.

* Keep all client information strictly confidential.

* Help clients understand the importance of travel insurance.

* Reach revenue targets and reporting to the travel manager.

* Book flights, train or any other transportation service for clients.

* Properly organise and save financial statements and documents.

* Provide friendly service and building professional relationships with clients.

* Attend conferences to maintain familiarity with tourism trends and developments.

* Answer all clients’ questions and addressing complaints timely and professionally.

* Systematic and detailed capturing and assessment of all client information into databases.

* Use promotional techniques and prepare promotional materials to sell itinerary tour packages.

* Provide important travel tips to clients on language, currency exchange, health and safety of belongings.

* Understand clients’ travel requirements and asking relevant questions to gather as much information as possible.

* Organise travels from beginning to end, through booking tickets and accommodation, securing rental transportation etc.

 

   Minimum Job Requirements

* Cover letter.

* CV/Resume.

* BSc in Hospitality, Travel, Tourism, or relevant field.

* Holding a CTA, CTC, a relevant license or certification.

*  At least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Candidates with personal travel experience will have added advantage.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for work experience on a year for year basis.

 

   Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

* Proven working experience as a Travel Consultant.

* Exemplary sales skills and customer oriented approach.

* Ability to present, persuade and communicate effectively.

* Ability to work effectively in a ethnically diverse and international environment.

* Skills in research, organising resources, establishing priorities, and work efficiently.

* Ability to provide independent advice and guidance to travellers within area of expertise.

* Well versed in various areas of travel (domestic/international, business/holidays, group/individual etc).

* Excellent knowledge of traveling software (computer reservations systems, GDS systems and e-travel).

* Ability to communicate proficiently in English language,  and knowledge of additional languages is an advantage.

* Knowledge and understanding of the needs of international travellers and how to apply the principles and techniques of assessment.
